A powerful, comprehensive quality standard for legal services firms
Legal Eye, a leading provider of best practice, risk management and compliance services to the legal services market, has launched the Legal Eye Quality Standard.
Suitable for Solicitors, Licensed Conveyancers and providers of legal information services, the quality standard is the first assessment scheme to address those rules and regulations which are over and above the traditional quality standards. The standard is also available to firms in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
- – The E-Commerce Directive,
- – The Bribery Act 2010
- – The Equality Act 2010
- – Referral and Fee Sharing arrangements
- – Publicity requirements
- – TCF (Treating Customers Fairly)
- …and many more.
As well as fully documented paperwork to satisfy audit requirements, firms receive official certification and marketing materials. It can also act as a positive contributor to controlling PI premiums through visibly evident, robust and documented risk management processes.
Leading law firms have already responded enthusiastically to the adoption of the new standard.
The Legal Eye Quality Standard has been available to firms and companies for over 3 years now, recognising their compliance achievements and quality of management within their practice areas. We are delighted with the momentum in which accredited companies and firms have embraced the compliance challenge.
There are a selection of accreditations and schemes in the market available just to solicitors, and for some there are industry specific standards within their specialist areas, however, the Legal Eye Quality Standard unites all those within the legal profession, including law firms regulated by the SRA, CLC and CILEx and those providing services to, and working with the legal industry such as IT providers, estate agents, search companies and many more.
Legal practices can have confidence and peace of mind in the areas of their business that they are outsourcing to companies who have been assessed under the same standards expected of them, reducing their regulatory risk. The LEQS review evaluate all elements of the firm/business, from induction through to cyber crime and anti fraud provisions.
Our team have been working with companies and firms across the country, ensuring that the LEQS is specific to the type of work and business seeking accreditation. The application of the standard is bespoke to the businesses we work with whilst ensuring that the core compliance and regulatory requirements are met, providing an industry standard, which can be recognised by all.

As a Licensed Conveyancing firm, Advantage Property Lawyers are unable to apply for Lexcel or CQS Accreditation. As a consequence its Directors instructed Legal Eye Ltd to carry out a full ‘on site’ audit of the firm focusing on ‘Best practice, Compliance and Risk Management’ in terms of the Lexcel quality standard. Legal Eye Ltd assessed APL’s processes and procedures against the Lexcel standard and the directors are delighted that they have achieved the Legal Eye Quality Standard. – Stephen Coupland, Partner at Advantage Property Lawyers
