What are your areas of risk and compliance specialism?
My main interests and projects worked on are implementing and maintaining ISO 27001 within law firms and practical guidance on complying with client due diligence requirements within anti money laundering regulations.
What’s your background?
An experienced risk and compliance professional who has worked in legal services for the last four years.
Has a keen interest in regulatory and compliance issues which was sparked after becoming Personal Assistant to the Chief Executive of a top Midlands law firm in Birmingham in 2014.
Since then has gained significant experience in the prevention and detection of and response to both regulatory and business risks with an understanding of both the technical and commercial aspects of risk issues.
A key part of the Risk and Compliance team of a top 50 UK law firm for three years supporting the firm’s Risk Manager and COLP. Led on a project to achieve ISO27001 certification across all eight offices within 18 months as well as playing a proactive role in preventing risk across all aspects of the business.
Worked as Risk and Compliance Officer in a probate administration organisation based in Stratford upon Avon, and redesigned and launched a MLR2017 compliant client due diligence procedure, as well as preparing the firm for the GDPR in May 2018.
What’s the most rewarding thing about your work?
Creating solutions and improving processes making everything run smoother, and actually seeing the rewards!
